A GODDESS OF YOUR OWN

A GODDESS OF YOUR OWN

I made 100 Goddesses over 3 days. Each one told a different story.

'A Goddess of Your Own' started soon after I became a mother. I wondered what happened to the mother goddess cultures of prehistory and how women’s bodies came to be objectified, hairless, perceived as weaker and how the reality I’d just experienced was celebrated so little.

The Goddesses are small, unassuming and yet powerful, a celebration of the strength of women’s bodies. Made from terracotta which is red due to the iron in the clay body, each one is carved, pressed, bits added and removed to tell a unique story. Stories of power and strength, of pain and scarring, of blood and transformation and of my own loneliness.

If you would like to meet the Goddesses please get in touch!
